This is begun on the back with the arms and legs tucked into the body.
Bouncing is initiated by kicking the legs towards the ceiling at about 45 degrees and opening out the arms on each kick to help balance.
When beginning to feel the rhythm of bed, the timing of each kick is adjusted, and the body ‘opens out’ accordingly. If the rhythm is judged accurately and timing is correct, height will be gained.
At the top of the bounce the hips are pushed forwards so the body is straight. The legs are then brought back to the tucked position as falling back down to the trampoline in order to prepare for landing and the following kick.
